Three suspects accused of impersonating employees of Green Planet Kenya Limited and handling money alleged to be proceeds of crime have pleaded not guilty before the Milimani Law Courts.
Erick Omondi Ochieno, Donna Moraa Omanwa and Clinton Maloba Anzoka appeared before Milimani Principal Magistrate Joan Mati on Monday, October 19, 2026, where they denied the charges against them. The three face charges including personation contrary to Section 382(1) of the Penal Code and offences under the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act.
The prosecution alleges that on July 15 and 16, 2026, the three, jointly with others who have not been brought before court, falsely represented themselves as employees of Sunking/Green Planet Kenya Limited working as salespersons, with intent to defraud.
The charge sheet further accuses the suspects of acquiring, using and possessing money alleged to have been proceeds of crime.
Clinton Maloba Anzoka is accused of acquiring Sh550 transferred from a Safaricom M-Pesa number registered in the name of Newton Koli to a Choice Microfinance bank account in his name. The prosecution alleges that Anzoka knew or ought reasonably to have known that the money formed part of, or was proceeds of, crime.
Donna Moraa Omanwa is separately accused of knowingly receiving Sh1,000 through her Choice Microfinance bank account from a Safaricom M-Pesa number registered in the name of Newton Koli, with the prosecution alleging that she knew or ought reasonably to have known that the money was proceeds of crime.
During the plea proceedings, the defence urged the court to release the three suspects on lenient bail terms, arguing that the offences they face are misdemeanours. The court subsequently released each of the accused on a bond of Sh50,000 or an alternative cash bail of Sh30,000.
The court directed that the matter will proceed to pre-trial proceedings on November 9, 2026.
