Youth leader Kefa  Moenga has challenged the participation of Dickson Machungo Mogaka, Dolphine Nyang’ara Onkoba, and Nyaribo Dennis Kebaso in the impeachment of Governor Amos Nyaribo saying they are not MCA’s.

In a petition to the Speaker of the assembly, Moenga says he is concerned that there are members in the County Assembly whose nomination and election to the County Assembly has been nullified and their participation in the impeachment process could negate constitutional principles.

He says he is the National Youth Leader for the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Party, representing no less than 300,000 members of the UPA party and the residents of Nyamira

“I strongly oppose the participation of one, in the impeachment process of the Governor on grounds that their respective County Assembly Membership was annulled by the court,” the petition reads.

Moenga says that Machungo and Kebaso’s elections were nullified by the court while Onkoba’s nomination was also nullified and was replaced by Advocate Michelle Omwoyo.

He further says that there are no stay orders against the three rulings issued by court and so the MCAs should not be participating in house business.

“The three impugned Members of the County Assembly are irregularly and illegally participating in the House business,” Moenga argues.

He has urged the speaker to deal with the petition immediately in view of the timeliness of the impeachment process of a governor.

MCAs are expected to have a deliberate and pass their vote on Nyaribo’s impeachment in a week’s time.
