More than 100 people arrested during the June 25 anti-government demonstrations have been presented before the Milimani Law Courts to face charges of obstructing traffic and interfering with the movement of motor vehicles on major roads in Nairobi.
Court documents show that the accused are alleged to have unlawfully assembled along Landhies Road at about 9:30 a.m. on June 25, 2026, where they allegedly blocked a section of the road and prevented the free movement of vehicles.
According to the prosecution, the suspects obstructed traffic by piling stones on the roadway and setting tyres on fire, causing inconvenience to motorists and other road users.
The accused persons were presented before the court from different police stations, including 12 from Kamukunji Police Station, 58 from Shauri Moyo Police Station, 46 from Industrial Area Police Station and 87 from Central Police Station.
The prosecution is seeking to proceed with the cases as part of criminal proceedings arising from the nationwide anti-government protests that took place on June 25. The accused persons are expected to take plea before the court.
