Law Student Served With Defamation Demand Over Remarks on Obinna TV Podcast

A Nairobi-based law student has been served with a formal demand letter over remarks he allegedly made during an interview on the Obinna TV podcast that lawyers say were defamatory and damaging to the reputation of Senior Advocate Danstan Omari.

Through lawyer Wambui Shadrack, Omari has written to Adrian Oluoch Biko, identified in the letter as a law student based in Nairobi .

According to the lawyers, the statements were made during an interview recorded on December 15, 2025, and aired the following day. The advocates claim that during the podcast, the law student made “derogatory, injurious, false, defamatory and unsubstantiated remarks” suggesting that Omari is corrupt and engages in bribery of judicial officers.

The demand letter specifically cites remarks allegedly made on the podcast insinuating that “the legal system is very corrupt” and that the Senior Advocate “knows who to bribe,” claims the lawyers say were made without any evidence and amount to serious defamation .

The advocates argue that the statements have been widely circulated across social media platforms including X, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook, causing what they describe as “immeasurable, irreparable and uncalled for reputational damage” to Omari, who they note has built a career spanning over a decade as a legal practitioner, lecturer, and advocate of the High Court of Kenya in good standing .

In the letter, Omari’s lawyers demand that the law student retract, withdraw, and issue an unequivocal apology for the statements within twelve hours of receipt of the demand. The apology, they say, must be made with the same prominence and enthusiasm as the original remarks on the Obinna TV platform.

The advocates warn that failure to comply within the stipulated timeline will result in legal proceedings being instituted against the law student without further notice, with all costs to be borne by him .

As of the time of publication, there was no public response from the law student regarding the demand or whether he intends to issue an apology or challenge the claims in court.
