The Director of Public Prosecutions and IPOA have not opposed to the release on bail of senior cops charged in the murder of baby Pendo.

When the matter came up for hearing of bail application on Tuesday, both IPOA and DPP told court that they were not opposed to their release so long as they adhere to the terms issued.

IPOA requested the court to consider granting the bail on terms that will ensure availability and attendance of the accused persons in court.

In the case, the state has so far charged officers Chengo Masha, Linah Kogey, Cyprine Robi Wankio, and James Rono with murder, rape, and torture.

The charges relate to events during the post-election unrest in Kisumu County.

Samantha Pendo died in 2017 after suffering a head injury during a police operation responding to protests.
