MP Babu Owino to seek compensation from state for being charged wrongfully.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino now says he will seek compensation from the government for the inhumane treatment he underwent during his arrest last year.

Owino while addressing the media minutes after being discharged from the subversion case said he will sue state for the inhumane treatment he was put through after being arrested for participating in the Azimio protests.

“We will file a constitutional petition ,we will seek for damages and the cost from the stateWe were unfairly treated,without food water and even legal representation,” he said

Earlier, Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina discharged him and six others from the case after the prosecution made an application to withdraw.

The DPP was acting upon a decision issued by the high court which declared the charge as unconstitutional and illegal in law.

“This is a win for Kenyans and that nobody will be charged with Subversion a charge that surpresses Kenyans,” Owino said

The DPP acted upon a high court decision that declared the charge of subversion unconstitutional.
