Detectives have arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of a shoe trader who was fatally stabbed along Landhies Road in Nairobi.
The victim, identified as Paul Mwangangi, was reportedly attacked on October 12, 2026, near the Muthurwa Market footbridge. Police officers who arrived at the scene found Mwangangi lying face down with a stab wound to the chest. Crime Scene Investigation detectives examined and documented the area as part of efforts to collect evidence. His body was later taken to City Mortuary, where it was preserved pending a postmortem examination.
In a subsequent operation, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices in Central and Kamukunji, working with the Nairobi Regional Criminal Investigations Office, tracked down the suspects following intelligence-led investigations.
The two were arrested at a hideout in Kayole, Nairobi, and identified as Joseph Kimani Ndungu, alias Bajong, and Peter Kimani Githinji, alias Denoo. Detectives also recovered a bloodstained Maasai sword suspected to have been used in the attack. The weapon was secured as an exhibit for forensic analysis.
The suspects were taken to Kamukunji Police Station, where they remain in custody as investigations continue ahead of their expected arraignment in court.
The DCI has conveyed its condolences to Mwangangi’s family, friends and fellow traders, saying investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding his death and bring those responsible to justice.
