Former Migori governor Okoth Obado’s personal Assistant Michael Oyamo has distanced himself from the murder of slain University student Sharon Otieno saying he was not in Migori that day.

Oyamo told Justice Cecilia Githua that he was with his boss Obado in Nairobi on that day that the said murder happened.

Oyamo took to the stand today and said he was glad that the time to set the record straight on his involvement in the whole saga.

He said on August 23 2018, Sharon called him to ask about his whereabouts and he told her that he was in Nairobi with the governor for a governors’ meeting.

Oyamo says Sharon expressed a desire to meet him in person to share something important but he told her he was in still Nairobi.

Later in the day, Sharon allegedly called him again, citing a communication breakdown between “XYZ” and “Muller” who were to give her money sent by the governor.

She is said to have complained that the two were not concerned about her welfare and requested a way to receive money directly.

According to Oyamo, Sharon continued calling throughout the day, suggesting that the best way to resolve the issue would be for the governor to personally sit down with the involved parties and mediate the situation.

Oyamo disputes claims made in XYZ’s testimony, which alleges that Sharon was told by Oyamo that the governor, through him, had summoned them to Nairobi.

He insists this is inaccurate and that it was Sharon who initiated the idea of a meeting to resolve internal disputes.
