Doomsday cult leader Paul Mackenzie has arrived in court under tight security ahead of his sentencing over the Shakahola massacre.
Mackenzie made his court appearance accompanied by his co-convicts, with security officers maintaining a heavy presence as the group was escorted into the court premises.
The arrival comes as the court prepares to deliver its sentence in the case arising from the Shakahola massacre, one of Kenya’s most shocking tragedies.
Mackenzie, who is at the centre of the case, has faced accusations linked to the deaths of hundreds of people whose bodies were discovered in mass graves in Shakahola, Kilifi County.
The case attracted national and international attention following revelations about the activities of the religious group and the circumstances surrounding the deaths of its followers.
The sentencing is expected to mark a significant moment in the ongoing pursuit of justice for the victims and their families.
